Polish bishops back organ donation September 11, 2007
Poland’s Catholic bishops have written a pastoral letter encouraging organ donation, which will be read in all churches throughout the country on September 23.
In their letter, the Polish bishops cite John Paul II’s support of organ donation in Evangelium Vitae and state: “Often the possibility to save someone’s life depends on organ donation.” They then go on to note that this year, the number of organ donations has dropped in Poland.
