Polish priest at Vatican Radio accused of collaboration July 03, 2007
Father Andrzej Koprowski, the programming director for Vatican Radio, was registered as a collaborator with the Polish secret police during the Communist era, the newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza reports.
Father Koprowski was registered as a collaborator in 1970 under the pseudonym "student," the newspaper says. The Jesuit priest is said to have reported on happenings within his religious order; at the only private university behind the Iron Curtain, the Catholic University of Lublin; among clergy in the Vatican; and in his talks with Pope John Paul II.
Father Koprowski says that he met with officials of the secret police with the knowledge and permission of his Jesuit superior.
