The Feast of the Birth of Saint John the Baptist in Mexico is definitely also a day of feasting. Everyone brings food to the bathing places — cakes and sweets, but also chicken tamales and stuffed peppers, pork tacos and empanadas (meat pies).

DIRECTIONS

Sift flour and salt together and cut in the lard and sufficient cold water to make a stiff dough. Knead on a floured board, divide into small balls and roll out to 1/8-inch thickness. Cook on a lightly greased griddle.
