Catholic Recipe: Noodles with Croutons and Poppy Seeds

    INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup 1/2-inch bread cubes
  • vegetable oil
  • 1 package (8 ounces) fine noodles
  • 2 Tablespoons melted butter or margarine
  • 1 Tablespoon poppy seeds
  • salt and pepper

This is a simple side dish of egg noodles, flavored with poppy seeds and homemade croutons. A wonderful dish.

DIRECTIONS

To make croutons, fry bread cubes in hot oil, stirring with fork until brown and crisp. Drain on paper toweling. Cook noodles as directed on package; drain; rinse with hot water; add melted butter or margarine, croutons, and poppy seeds; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Toss with fork to mix thoroughly. Makes 6 servings.
