From east to west, from north to south, the popularity of cookouts grows by leaps and bounds. Back yards and patios, terraces and porches, boast some kind of barbecuing equipment, from elaborate fieldstone pits to the modest hibachi. Most often this is a man's territory. He claims the prerogative of being the chef and glories in his culinary achievements. (Who cleans up? The less said the better, but it's worth it!)
