Catholic Recipe: Cereal Snacks

    INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1-1/2 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt or powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Tabasco
  • 2 cups bite-size shredded wheat cereal
  • 2 cups bite-size shredded rice cereal
  • 1 cup pretzel sticks
  • 1 cup salted peanuts

Also known as "Chex Mix", this appetizer is always a popular munchi with teenagers and casual gatherings.

DIRECTIONS

Melt butter or margarine; stir in Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, garlic salt or powder, and Tabasco. Pour cereals, pretzel sticks, and peanuts into large, shallow pan; add butter mixture; mix gently with fork until all pieces are coated. Heat at 300° for 30 minutes, stirring gently every 10 minutes. Cool.
