Catholic Recipe: Sweet Sixteen Birthday Cake
Sixteenth birthdays are special, especially for young ladies. Here's an appropriate lemon flavored cake to serve for this birthday celebration.
DIRECTIONS
Cream shortening. Add sugar; cream until light and fluffy. Mix and sift flour, baking powder, salt; add alternately with milk to creamed mixture. Add lemon extract. Beat egg whites stiff but not dry; fold in. Pour into 2 greased and floured 8-inch layer cake pans. Bake at 375° for 20 to 25 minutes.
