Catholic Recipe: Lasagne Sauce

    INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 cans (10-1/2 ounces each) marinara sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil
  • salt and pepper

Make this zesty sauce for your Easy Lasagne on St. Lawrence's feast day.

DIRECTIONS

Remove sausage meat from skin; break up into small pieces. Sauté in oil until brown — about 5 minutes; remove. Add onion and garlic to drippings in pan; sauté until onions are soft but not brown. Drain off all but 1 tablespoon pan drippings. Add marinara sauce, herbs, and seasonings. Bring to boil; simmer 5 minutes.
