Catholic Recipe: Fruit Cardinal

    INGREDIENTS

  • Strawberries, peaches, raspberries (or some combination of fruit) stewed in syrup
  • strawberry or raspberry ice cream
  • strawberry or raspberry sauce
  • sliced roasted almonds
  • pistachio nuts

Dessert to serve for nameday celebrations of Cardinals, such as Robert Bellarmine, Charles Borromeo, Peter Damian, and Raymond Nonnatus.

DIRECTIONS

Strawberries, peaches or raspberries stewed in syrup and placed on strawberry or raspberry ice cream, with strawberry or raspberry sauce, and sprinkled with sliced roasted almonds and a little pistachio nut. The sauces come in jars at the ice cream counter of a supermarket.
