Description:

St. Paschal was of peasant birth in Aragon in 1540 and was a shepherd until he became a lay-Brother of the Alcantarine reform of the Friars Minor; died at Villareal 1592, beatified by Pope Paul V, canonized 1690 by Pope Alexander VIII; because of his devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and defense of true Eucharistic doctrine before a Calvinist mob Pope Leo XIII in 1897 declared him Patron of all Eucharistic societies and assemblies. The above Litany, bearing imprint of the Commissariat of the Holy Land, was issued "approba. tione Ecclesiastica." Feast of St. Paschal, 17 May, dp. in Latin Church since 1784, dp. 11 cl. by Franciscans, dp. majus at Naples where he is Minor Patron.

O God, Who dost glorify those who glorify Thee and desirest to be honored in Thy Saints: grant, we beseech Thee, that we may worthily extol the glorious merits of Saint Paschal, imitate his virtues, and rejoice in his powerful intercession before Thy Heavenly Throne. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. Amen.
