URBI ET ORBI
The Pope's solemn blessing given to his visible audience in Rome and to the invisible audience of the entire world. This public blessing is given quite frequently during jubilee years and on several other important occasions. Pope Pius XI revived this benediction in 1922, after it had been in abeyance for more than fifty years.
