THRONE
The permanent chair or seat of honor occupied by a pope, cardinal, diocesan bishop, or abbot when presiding as solemn functions. It is usually a chair with a high back, is placed on the right side of the altar and made of wood or stone resting on a dais, three steps high, covered by a square canopy.
