THEBAN LEGION
A legion of the Roman army about A.D. 300, under Maurice, the primicerius, now venerated as a saint. Legend says that thye refused to punish Christians and as a result were massacred in the region of Agaunum, Switzerland. Even though a great deal of controversy surrounds this story, many sources testify to its fact, notably a letter of St. Eucherius and entries in the Martyrology.
