TARGUM
The Aramaic translations or paraphrases of the Old Testament, made by the Jews when Hebrew had ceased to be their normal medium of speech. (Etym. Mishnaic Hebrew targ_m, translation, interpretation; from Hebrew tirg_m, he interpreted.)
