SINAI
A triangular peninsula, 230 miles long, pointing down into the head of the Red Sea. It is exceptionally rugged, marked by mountain peaks thousands of feet above sea level and by wide stretches of desert land (Exodus 19:12, 18, 23; Exodus 24:16). Its biblical importance derives from the fact that one of the mountains on the peninsula, named Mount Sinai (some scholars called it Mount Horeb), was the place where Yahweh presented the Ten Commandment to Moses (Exodus 31:18).
