SHEMA
The Hebrew name for Deuteronomy, and the single most recited biblical verse among the Jewish people. In its shortest form it says, "Hear O Israel, the Lord Our God, the Lord is One" (Deuteronomy 6:4). But the regular Shema in the liturgy covers three portions--Deuteronomy 6:4-9, 11:13-21, and Numbers 15:37-41.
