SANCTUS PONTIFEX
Declaration of the Sacred Congregations for the Clergy and for the Discipline of the Sacraments on First Confession and First Communion. The document states that ther should be an end to "experiments" with First Holy Communion without sacramental confession; that such practices were to end by the close of the 1972-73 school year (May 24, 1973). Four years later (March 31, 1977) another document on the smae subject was issued by the Congregations for the Clergy and for the Sacraments, and Divine Worship, declaring that all suh experiments "should cease so that the discipline of the Church might be restored."
