PROBLEM
In general any subject on which reasoning takes place. An unsolved question in philosophy or theology about which various views are maintained, with no convincing solution as yet available or on which the Church's teaching authority has not yet made a definite judgment. (Etym. Latin problema, a question proposed for solution; from Greek probl_ma, something thrown forward.)
