PRESCRIBED PRAYER
A special additional prayer to be said by the celebrant at Mass. It may be prescribed by the Pope or a bishop for a specific cause, e.g., drought, jubilee, persecution; or it may be prescribed by the rubrics for special feasts; or it may formerly have been required for the gaining of indulgences.
