PERFECTAE CARITATIS
Decree of the Second Vatican Council on the Up-to-Date Renewal of Religious Life. This is intended to complement the chapter on religious life in the Council's Constitution on the Church. It is therefore a normative document on how those dedicated to Christian perfection are to renew themselves in spirit and adapt themselves to the changing times. Among the legislative provisions of the decree are community life under superiors, corporate prayer, poverty of sharing, a distinctive religious habit, and continued spiritual and doctrinal education (October 28, 1965).
