PARENTS, DUTIES OF
Parents are to provide for the physical and intellectual well-being of their children, but they are especially bound by divine law to educate their children for god and for eternal salvation. According to the Second Vatican Council, "It is the duty of the parents to create a family atmosphere inspired by love and devotion to God and their fellow men which will promote an integrated, personal and social education of their children" (Declaration on Christian Education, 3).
