MORGANATIC MARRIAGE
Literally a dowry given the morning after a marriage. It is a licit and valid marital union of a prince, or other male member of royalty, with a woman of inferior rank, contracted with the understanding that the children have no right to succeed to their father's title. They are compensated by a gift or dowry to their mother.
