MICAH
A Judaean prophet, a contemporary of Isaiah, Amos, and Hosea. He was fearless in denouncing the abuses of the times, condemning the rich who defrauded the poor, usurers, swindlers, and venal judges. He warned the people that God would judge and punish them. Among his prophecies was this one: "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, the least of the clans of Judah, out of you will be born for me the one who is to rule over Israel" (Micah 5:1).
