MADONNA

My lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary, either as a title or representation of the Virgin. Often combined with another title, e.g., Madonna della Strada, Our Lady of the Way. (Etym. Italian madonna, from mia donna, my lady; from Latin mea domina, my lady.)
