An Egyptian magician named by Paul. Jewish tradition held that Jannes and Jambres had tried to outwit Moses but were proved fakers. Paul used their names in comparing them to those of his contemporaries whose "minds were corrupt and their faith spurious" (II Timothy 3:8-9).
