INFIDELITY, MARITAL
Unfaithfulness to one's marriage vows by having sexual relations with a person other than one's lawfully wedded spouse. It is equivalent to adultery. According to the Church's constant tradition, infidelity is sufficient grounds for separation and even civil divorce, but not for divorce with the right to remarry.
