INFANTICIDE
Child murder. Distinguished from direct abortion, which is also murder, by the fact that the child is already born, alive, and then deliberately put to death. (Etym. Latin infans, a young child, a babe; literally, not yet able to speak + -cidium, killing: infanticidium.)
