IMAGINATIVE VISION
Supernatural perception produced in the imagination by God or by the angels, either during sleep or during periods of being awake. Thus an angel appeared several times to St. Joseph in his sleep (Matthew 1:20, 2:13, 19). St. Teresa of Avila relates that she had imaginative visions of Christ while she was fully awake (Autobiography, chapter 28).
