HOLY SOULS
The souls of those who departed in the grace of God but who are temporarily detained in purgatory for venial faults and for the unremitted punishment due to their forgiven sins. They are the object of the prayers of the faithful, especially the Sacrifice of the Mass offered for them. The feast of All Souls, November 2, and the whole month of November are designated for their remembrance by the Church. The living faithful are daily reminded in the liturgy to pray for the holy souls.
