GAD
Eldest son of Jacob and the slave girl Zilpah (Genesis 30:9-11). He became the ancestor of one of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, a warlike people called Gadites (Numbers 2:14). They supported David against Saul and after Solomon's death supported the revolt of Jeroboam.
