ENVOY
In Church law, a diplomatic agent; a person appointed by the Holy See to negotiate a treaty with a foreign government; anyone dispatched on a specific mission. Over the ;centuries papal envoys have often been sent on a variety of missions to the heads of political states. (Etym. French envoyer, to send.)
