DEVOUT LIFE, INTRODUCTION TO THE
A famous spiritual treatise of St. Francis de Sales (1567-1622). Originally a small manual written for the private use of his cousin's wife, Madame de Charmoisy, it was later revised and expounded. The first edition was published in 1609 in Lyons, the final and definitive edition in 1619. Its purpose is to give practical directives for growth in holiness for people living in the world. but it has found a wide appeal among people in every state of life.
