DESACRALIZATION
The conscious removal or reduction of sacred symbols from religious life and worship. In Christianity it is a practical consequence of the demythology of the Bible and tradition. As the faith of a people is less concerned with revealed mysteries pertaining to God, their religious ceremonial becomes desacralized.
