CONVULSIONARIES
Jansenist enthusiasts who opposed the papal condemnation of 1713 and exhibited supposedly miraculous phenomena in witness of their cause. The phenomena were first observed, together with cures and prophecies, at the tomb of the Jansenist François de Paris in 1731, at St. Médard, Paris. They continued in various parts of France to the end of the eighteenth century.
