COMMUNIO ET PROGRESSIO

Pastoral instruction of the Pontifical Commission for Social Communications, on the exact application of the decree Inter Mirifica of the Second Vatican Council. It covers in sequence: doctrinal principles; contribution of the communications media to human progress; training of recipients and communicators; opportunities and obligations of both; co-operation between citizens and civil authorities; collaboration among all believers and men of good will; the commitment of Catholics in the media; public opinion and closer communication in the life of the Church; activity of Catholics in the field of writing, movies, radio, and television, the theater, equipment, personnel, and organization; urgency of the need because forces other than Catholic or Christian are coming to dominate the media. This document is Part of the postconciliar teaching on the media. It complements In Fructibus Multis of Paul VI, May 25, 1971.
