COMMUNICATION OF PROPERTIES

Attributing to Christ two series of predicates, one divine and one human. Since we attribute properties and activities to one person, and since Christ is one person in two natures, we may attribute either divine or human qualities and actions to the same Christ. We may correctly say that Christ is God and that he is man, that God was born of Mary and that the infinite truth died on the Cross. However, only concrete names may be used in this way because abstract names "abstract" from the existence of something in a particular individual or person. It would be wrong, therefore, to say that Mary is the mother of the divinity.
