CAPPA MAGNA
A cope ?cape? worn by cardinals and bishops on occasions of ceremony. Formerly it had a long rain requiring a train bearer, and a hood of fur or silk. Other prelates also wore an abbreviated cappa magna to signify their inferior dignity.
