The emblem of several saints, generally symbolizing their great eloquence. St. Ambrose (340-97) is considered patron of the beekeepers. Bees are likewise symbols of St. John Chrysostom (347-407), the golden-tongued patron of orators, and also of St. Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153).
