ARCHPRIEST
The head of a college of presbyters as special representatives of a bishop. The union of several archpriests constituted an archdiaconate whose individual archpriests were subject to the archdeacon. Since the Council of Trent the duties of archpriests have been assumed by deans and other diocesan officials.
