APOSTLESHIP OF PRAYER
Worldwide organization, founded at Vals, France, in 1844, to promote devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Basic requirements for membership are the recitation of the Daily Offering and inscription of one's name in the Apostleship. The members are asked to pray for the particular intentions of the Holy Father, which are specified each month in two forms. There is a general and a mission intention, and both are made publicly known a year ahead of time. The Apostleship publishes The Messenger of the Sacred Heart in many countries.
