ALLELUIA
Hebrew hallelujah "praise Yahweh." Ancient liturgical form of jubilation especially in the Psalms, now in the divine Office and Eucharistic liturgy. Best known in the Easter chant and in the Alleluia verse at Mass. (Etym. Hebrew halelujah, praise ye Yahweh; praise to him who is.)
