ALEXIANS
Religious institute of brothers, founded in the fourteenth century in Brabant and re-established in 1854. Their apostolate is to care for the sick, direct hospitals and homes for the aged and poor, and administer cemeteries. There are also Alexian Sisters doing similar work. The patron is St. Alexis of Edessa (d. 430).
