ALEXANDRIAN THEOLOGY
Dominant theology in the early Church of Alexandria. It favored Platonic view of the universe, with a stress on the dualism between God and the world, between spirit and matter. In its view of Christ, it stressed his divinity. In the interpretation of the Bible, it favored a mystical or allegorical exposition, in contrast with the literal and historical approach of the Antiochene theology.
