Crisis on the Priesthood

Note that the title is not “Crisis in the priesthood”, but “Crisis on the Priesthood”. It refers to the fact that the folks at Crisis (an online magazine) are every bit as devoted to the Catholic priesthood as we are. They know that priests are an immense source of grace and consolation in the world.
Among many fine pieces of writing Crisis has contributed to the New Evangelization, I’d like to call particular attention to Jeffrey Tucker’s touching reflection, The Priesthood and the Choice. It’s a good reminder of what men who become priests give up, the courage of that sacrifice, and what they too often receive, both from us and from the rest of the world, in return.
And yet, as Tucker points out, priestly vocations are on the rise—through yet another miracle of grace.

Really nice article! This sentence jumped out at me:"What strikes me is: what other vocation in life calls forth such fundamentally violent opposition?" The world is awash with evil, much of it unimaginable even to arch-sinners of the past, people like the Marquis de Sade; Satan is harvesting a bumper crop these days it seems. And if there is one thing Satan isn't, it's stupid; he knows his real enemy and that enemy is wearing a Roman collar.
