On the Solemnity of St. Joseph

By Chris Pelicano (bio - articles - send a comment) | March 19, 2012 12:23 PM

A simple encouragement to implore the intercession of St. Joseph:

“Most beloved father, dispel the evil of falsehood and sin...graciously assist us from heaven in our struggle with the powers of darkness...and just as once you saved the Child Jesus from mortal danger, so now defend God's holy Church from the snares of her enemies and from all adversity” (Pope Leo XIII, immediately following the text of the Encyclical Epistle Quamquam pluries, August 15, 1889.)

A simple reminder to imitate St. Joseph's virtues (especially hearing the Word of God with reverence and faithfully carrying out His commands):

“Besides trusting in Joseph's sure protection, the Church also trusts in his noble example, which transcends all individual states of life and serves as a model for the entire Christian community, whatever the condition and duties of each of its members may be.” (Pope John Paul II, Redemptoris Custos, August 15, 1989)

St. Joseph, help us, men, to be protectors and defenders of Marriage, wives, families, and especially the “little ones” entrusted to us.

10 out of 10 for this reminder to see St Joseph (so hidden in his humilty) for what and who he in reality is..."..the lord of His household, and prince over all His possessions."
