Prayers for Pope Francis—now more than ever

By Phil Lawler (bio - articles - email) | Mar 07, 2017

This week Pope Francis is on retreat, along with leaders of the Roman Curia.

Because most Vatican offices will be quiet this week, while their top officials are on retreat, we can expect much less news from Rome.

Meanwhile, as the Holy Father and his most important colleagues take stock of their own spiritual lives, now is an ideal time for all concerned Catholics to pray that they will be guided by the Holy Spirit for the welfare of the Church.

That our Holy Father might be spiritually well, and well spoken but brief, and preferably silent, unless he is completely obdient to Your Law and Your Will for the Church in all his thoughts, words, actions, desires and omissions. Amen.

I pray for the Holy Father daily, especially that he might hear the voice of the Holy Spirit whispering in his own ears. We have quite enough dissension coming out of the White House; the faithful do not need it coming out of Rome too.
