When pressed to explain his earlier statement, the bishop responded, "I lied."
APRIL FOOL!
It never happened, of course. During the past year, dozens of bishops have testified under oath, and been asked to explain discrepancies in their public statements. Not one has ever confessed, simply, "I lied."
That's because American bishops always tell the truth.
