Under its own rules, the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts must render a decision on same-sex marriage no later than this coming Monday, July 14.
(Of course the SJC could ignore the rules-- the way it ignores the written constitution-- but in this case the justices are more likely leaping like a stag toward their conclusion.)
July 14: Does that date ring a bell? Yup: Bastille Day. The French revolutionaries stormed the prison, and let loose.... What did they let loose? A lot. Not all nice.

Although it shouldn't, it amazes me that this abomination is set to happen in a heavily Catholic area of the country. In fact, almost all of the places this is happening have large Catholic populations. Yet, in states where evangelical Protestants hold sway and Catholics are but a tiny minority, no state court would ever get away with such a thing. Casts some doubt upon my strident Catholicism...
