Sheehan said a bishop taking over a traumatized diocese needs to: ``apologize,'' settle lawsuits, offer counseling and give parents absolute assurance that no priest who abused even one child is in their midst. At the same time, the bishop should lead local Catholics toward ``focusing on the work of the church,'' he said.Notice anything missing there?
Then here's a different view:

Dolan, the leader of the Milwaukee archdiocese and a prelate whose name has emerged recently as a possible successor to Law, said steering the church into the future will require restoring ``spiritual'' matters to supremacy. All the bishops need to embrace ``humility,'' Dolan said.
