"[Bishop] O'Brien vowed a year ago this month to 'lead the nation' in ridding the diocese of sex offenders," says today's Arizona Republic.

"I have championed a fuller, deeper and more accurate statistical study [of sexual abuse]" insists Cardinal Roger Mahony.

"I want the Archdiocese [of Boston] to become a model for how this issue should be handled," said Cardinal Bernard Law in January of 2002.

Gentlemen, please, how about less national leadership and more local governance?
